Snooker legend Mark Williams faced Jimmy Robertson in the quarter-finals of the Saudi Arabia Masters, but the match took a strange turn due to an unexpected refereeing blunder by Leo Scullion.
During the match, Scullion made a bizarre error that briefly halted play. After Williams successfully potted a black ball, he set himself up for the next shot, only for Scullion to mistakenly move the cue ball instead of the potted black. This left Williams and the audience in disbelief at the unusual gaffe.
Despite the odd interruption, Williams maintained his composure, cruising to a commanding 6-0 win over Robertson. The Welsh snooker icon has been in phenomenal form throughout the tournament. He had already pulled off an incredible comeback, overturning a 4-0 deficit to beat Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5-4, followed by a 6-2 win against World Championship semi-finalist Stuart Bingham.
In the semi-finals, Williams continued his winning streak, defeating Chinese sensation Si Jiahui, who had earlier knocked out Ronnie O’Sullivan, securing his place in the final against Judd Trump. With a £500,000 prize on the line, Williams is now eyeing his first title of the season, despite already holding the British Open and Tour Championship titles.
While the unusual refereeing mistake could have unsettled him, Williams brushed it off with ease, showing his veteran resilience as he aims for the Saudi Arabia Masters crown.
