Simon Jordan has defended Liverpool and their manager Arne Slot, suggesting that criticism over recent matches has been blown out of proportion.
After losses to Galatasaray in the Champions League and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, pundits including Jamie Carragher pointed to defensive issues and tactical inconsistencies. However, Jordan argues these reactions are premature. He claims Liverpool’s lead in the league demonstrates their resilience rather than any impending collapse. He reminded critics that even title-winning teams often have shaky moments.
Jordan also stressed that much of the criticism fails to take into account the quality of opposition and situational factors — like injuries, squad rotation, or adapting new players. He praised Slot for navigating those challenges along with the pressure that comes with being defending champions.
Slot himself has responded by focusing on improvements — noting positives from recent matches, especially first-half performances, defending his full-backs and identifying collective issues rather than blaming individuals. In one occasion, his handling of a player’s mistake (Ekitike celebrating after already being on a yellow) was seen by Jordan as a mark of a manager with authority and control.
In Jordan’s estimation, Liverpool remain strong, and Slot is doing well under high expectations. He believes the criticism comes from the spotlight that success attracts, rather than from real failings significant enough to suggest worry.
