In an upcoming Monday Night Football (MNF) clash, the New York Giants are set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in what many analysts believe will be a heavily one-sided contest. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF) analyst Sam Monson, the matchup strongly favors the Steelers, citing a wide gap in both teams’ strengths and weaknesses.
A major point of concern for the Giants is their weak pass protection, which Monson believes could be their undoing. The Giants’ offensive line has struggled throughout the season, and going up against Pittsburgh’s aggressive pass rush, spearheaded by star linebacker T.J. Watt, could create major issues. The Steelers’ defense excels at pressuring quarterbacks, and the Giants have shown vulnerability, allowing multiple sacks in recent weeks.
Offensively, while the Steelers may not boast the most potent attack, they are capable of exploiting the Giants’ defensive lapses. The Giants’ secondary has been inconsistent, and this opens the door for Steelers’ quarterback Kenny Pickett and wide receiver George Pickens to take advantage of coverage gaps. According to Monson, these mismatches make the contest a “terrible matchup” for the Giants.
In addition to their on-field challenges, the Giants are also contending with injuries to several key players, further widening the gap between the two teams. Monson suggests that unless the Giants find a way to protect their quarterback and disrupt the Steelers’ offensive flow, the game could get out of hand quickly.
While surprises can happen in football, the analysis suggests the Steelers are in a strong position, and the Giants will need to overcome significant challenges to compete.
