The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers have reportedly hit a roadblock in negotiations for wide receiver Adam Thielen. According to insiders, while there was interest from Pittsburgh, discussions with Carolina are far from reaching a final deal. Thielen, known for his consistent hands and veteran leadership, was considered a strong target to boost Pittsburgh’s receiving corps, which includes Diontae Johnson and George Pickens.
Steelers General Manager Omar Khan had reportedly been exploring the possibility of acquiring Thielen to add experience and depth to the team’s offense. However, Panthers General Manager Scott Fitterer and his front office appear unwilling to part with the 33-year-old wideout without significant compensation, which has caused friction in the talks.
Sources close to the situation indicated that the Panthers are hesitant to make a move that would leave rookie quarterback Bryce Young without one of his key targets this season. Thielen, who signed with the Panthers after leaving the Minnesota Vikings, has quickly become a crucial piece of Carolina’s offense, leading the team in both catches and yards this season. His experience and reliability have been essential for Carolina’s younger offensive players, and losing him could impact their rebuilding efforts.
The Steelers, meanwhile, remain hopeful they can find another way to bolster their offensive weapons as the trade deadline approaches, though the Thielen negotiations now appear unlikely to be revived.
