Steelers’ DeShon Elliott Takes a Shot at Aaron Rodgers Amid Free Agency Speculation

As speculation grows about Aaron Rodgers’ next move in free agency, Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott has made his opinion abundantly clear. In response to online chatter about the possibility of Rodgers joining the Steelers, Elliott bluntly commented on Instagram, “Leave his ass at the retirement home.”

Elliott’s bold statement, which has since been removed, suggests he isn’t interested in seeing the 41-year-old quarterback in Pittsburgh. His view aligns with reports indicating the Steelers’ front office has no intention of pursuing Rodgers, even if he becomes available.

Currently, the Steelers have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields on their roster as quarterback options. Elliott’s remarks imply he’d prefer the team to stick with its current direction rather than bring in a veteran like Rodgers, who, during the 2024 season with the New York Jets, recorded 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Meanwhile, as Rodgers weighs his next move, teams such as the Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders have been floated as potential landing spots. Rodgers has made it clear that his priority is finding a team that values him and has a competitive roster.

Elliott’s direct response reflects a broader sentiment within the Steelers organization, which appears hesitant to disrupt its current quarterback situation as free agency unfolds.
