After Sunday’s game, Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich made it clear there’s no doubt about Bryce Young’s standing as the team’s franchise quarterback. Despite a challenging performance in the Panthers’ latest outing, Reich expressed unwavering confidence in the rookie signal-caller during his post-game comments.
Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has faced growing pains in his debut season. The Panthers’ 2023 campaign has been a rocky road, with inconsistencies on both sides of the ball contributing to a lackluster record. While some fans and analysts have raised questions about Young’s readiness, Reich dismissed any speculation about his position.
“Bryce is our guy,” Reich stated firmly. “We’re all growing and learning, but I see a competitor and a leader in him. There’s no doubt in my mind he’s the future of this franchise.”
Wide receiver Adam Thielen, one of Young’s key targets, also voiced his support. “Bryce is resilient. He works harder than anyone and takes responsibility. We’ve all got to do better around him,” Thielen said.
Although Sunday’s game ended in disappointment, Young showed flashes of the skillset that made him a top draft pick. His ability to extend plays and his poise under pressure were on display, even if the final score didn’t reflect his efforts.
As the Panthers continue to rebuild, the organization remains committed to Young’s development. General Manager Scott Fitterer echoed Reich’s sentiments earlier in the season, emphasizing patience as the team focuses on building a sustainable foundation for success.
The road ahead may be tough, but for now, Bryce Young’s status as the Panthers’ quarterback remains unquestioned.
