Rangers manager Philippe Clement has provided an overview of the club’s current injury concerns, confirming that five players are still unavailable for selection. Among them is young defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo, who remains in the recovery phase.
Neraysho Kasanwirjo’s Status
The 21-year-old Dutch defender, on loan from Feyenoord, has yet to recover fully from an injury that has sidelined him in recent weeks. Clement indicated that Kasanwirjo is progressing but has not resumed full training with the squad.
Other Players Out
In addition to Kasanwirjo, Tom Lawrence, Ridvan Yilmaz, and Kemar Roofe are also out of action. Lawrence and Yilmaz are managing muscle injuries, with Clement cautioning against rushing their return to avoid aggravating their conditions. Meanwhile, Roofe’s ongoing fitness struggles have left his return date uncertain.
Leon King, recovering from a long-term injury, is making strides toward fitness, but the young defender is still not ready for competitive play.
Encouraging Signs
Clement did hint at some positive updates, mentioning that a few players are edging closer to availability. However, he refrained from disclosing names or specific timelines, underlining the need for patience.
Strategic Recovery Management
The manager emphasized a cautious approach to handling injuries, prioritizing long-term health over short-term needs. “We can’t afford to take risks with the players’ fitness,” Clement stated. “They need to be completely ready before coming back into the fold.”
As Rangers continue to compete on multiple fronts, Clement will look to his squad depth to navigate the challenges posed by these injuries.
