Manchester United’s summer signing, Benjamin Šeško, is set to make his first start for the club in their Carabao Cup second-round clash against Grimsby Town. The highly rated forward, who joined the Red Devils amid much anticipation, has so far been limited to cameo appearances from the bench in the Premier League.
Former United captain Gary Neville has urged Ruben Amorimto give the 21-year-old striker more opportunities to showcase his talent, stressing that a player of Šeško’s potential must not be left idle on the sidelines.
“You can’t let a player of that value, that potential, just keep being on the bench,” Neville told Sky Sports. “He’s got the physicality, the movement, and the composure in front of goal that United need. The sooner he gets regular minutes, the quicker he’ll settle and make a real difference.”
Šeško’s move to Old Trafford was seen as a statement of intent by the club, with the Slovenian international tipped to be one of Europe’s brightest attacking prospects. Standing at 6ft 4in, his combination of aerial presence and technical ability has already drawn comparisons to some of United’s great strikers of the past.
The Carabao Cup tie at Blundell Park offers the perfect stage for Šeško to make his mark in a competitive starting role. With United aiming to defend their League Cup crown, all eyes will be on how the young striker handles the pressure and delivers for his new club.
If he shines, it could be the beginning of a breakthrough season — and the answer to United’s search for a consistent goalscorer
