Sir Mark Cavendish Honoured with Isle of Man Stamp Tribute

The Isle of Man has celebrated its cycling superstar, Sir Mark Cavendish, with a special series of postage stamps. Known as the “Manx Missile,” Cavendish is recognized for his incredible accomplishments, including 34 stage wins at the Tour de France, a record he shares with the legendary Eddy Merckx.

The stamp collection features six designs capturing key moments in Cavendish’s illustrious career. Highlights include his 2011 World Championship victory in Copenhagen, where he donned the prestigious rainbow jersey, and iconic scenes from his Tour de France stage wins. The stamps also acknowledge Cavendish’s influence in inspiring young cyclists from the Isle of Man.

Cavendish expressed heartfelt appreciation for the honour, describing it as a meaningful recognition of his career and the unwavering support he has received. He credited the Isle of Man for fostering his passion for cycling, saying, “This Island has always been home, and this tribute is incredibly special to me.”
