As the Georgia Bulldogs prepare to take on the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Championship game, quarterback Carson Beck is gearing up for what could be the final game of his collegiate career. Beck, a senior from Jacksonville, Florida, has been a stalwart for the Bulldogs over the past four seasons, and is looking to leave a lasting impression on the program.
“Carson has been an incredible leader for our team,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. “He’s a tough, physical player who has always put the team first. We’re going to miss him next year, but we’re excited to see him go out with a bang.”
Beck has had a storied career at Georgia, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of SEC East division titles and a appearance in the College Football Playoff. He’s thrown for over 7,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his career, and has been named a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Despite his impressive resume, Beck has faced his fair share of challenges this season. He’s battled injuries and inconsistency, and has had to fight for playing time with younger quarterbacks. But through it all, Beck has remained a leader and a steady presence for the Bulldogs.
“Carson is a true leader,” said Georgia wide receiver, Ladd McConkey. “He’s always been a guy who puts the team first, and he’s been a great role model for us younger guys. We’re going to miss him next year, but we’re excited to see him go out with a win.”
As Beck prepares to take the field for what could be the final time, he’s reflecting on his time at Georgia and the lessons he’s learned along the way.
“It’s been an incredible journey,” Beck said. “I’ve learned so much about myself and about the game. I’m just grateful for the opportunity to play for this program and to be a part of this team.”
Beck’s legacy game will be a highly anticipated matchup, as the Bulldogs look to take down the Longhorns and secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. It’s a fitting end to an impressive career, and Beck is looking to go out with a bang.
“I want to leave everything on the field,” Beck said. “I want to give it everything I’ve got and walk away with no regrets. That’s the goal.”
