Paul Alamoti has officially signed with the Penrith Panthers for the 2024 NRL season, marking a significant turn in his career after a tumultuous period with the Canterbury Bulldogs. At just 19 years old, Alamoti had a challenging debut season, appearing in 19 games for the Bulldogs, who finished near the bottom of the NRL standings.
The signing comes after Alamoti found himself without a contract for the upcoming season, especially following the Bulldogs’ acquisition of established centers like Stephen Crichton and Bronson Xerri, which pushed him down the pecking order. However, the Panthers recognized his potential and brought him in on a one-year deal, hoping to develop him as a long-term asset.
His opportunity at the Panthers was accelerated by Taylan May’s suspension, which opened a spot in the first team. Alamoti seized the moment, quickly becoming an integral part of the squad, even scoring a pivotal try in the grand final as the Panthers clinched their fourth consecutive premiership. His impressive performance in the finals has led to heightened expectations for his contributions in the upcoming season.
Panthers officials have expressed optimism about Alamoti’s future, highlighting his talent and ability to grow within the team. As he transitions into this new chapter with Penrith, Alamoti aims to solidify his place and further showcase his capabilities on a bigger stage.
